Youth Consultation Methods

Youth Consultation Methods

ProMo-Cymru offers a variety of communication and consultation methods that can be tailored and combined to the needs of our clients.  These include:

Focus Groups – These range from discussion groups through to interactive sessions and can be recorded using multi-media to obtain an accurate record either in the form of video or audio.  This qualitative method offers the opportunity to explore issues in detail.

Participative workshops – Either designed and developed to suit an individual project, or utilising and adapting ProMo-Cymru’s workshop resources proven to be effective. These methods offer a fun and engaging way of obtaining young peoples views, with the team relishing the opportunity to devise and develop fresh and exciting workshops unique to clients needs.

Questionnaires and Surveys – Gathering quantitative data using online and offline methods, design is of key importance in appealing to young people.  Questionnaires and surveys can be designed with the assistance of young people prior to their dissemination across our networks.

Online Polls - Utilising CLIC as an online communication tool with young people, simple polls are present on every website within the network.  This method offers a means of gathering opinions on one topic at a time simultaneously across Wales.

Video interviews - The use of video can be a powerful tool in directly presenting the views of young people to clients and the majority of our youth consultations incorporate this method in combination with others. Media consent is gained for young peoples involvement with the aim of the consultation and intended use of the video content clearly stated and explained.  Short video edits are produced either in DVD format or as downloadable video resources.

Some examples of our previous youth consultation and research projects are listed as subpages opposite.
