ProMo-Cymru, via a rolling recruitment process, is looking for interested applicants to work on MEIC, the national advocacy and advice helpline for children and young people in Wales.

MEIC is managed strategically by the Cywaith consortium, made up of Children in Wales, NYAS, Tros Gynnal Plant, ProMo-Cymru and Voices from Care.

The bi-lingual Helpline operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

These are exciting times for our service and we are looking to recruit a number of adviser advocates to support our growth. We have vacancies for full-time, part-time and sessional staff to complement our existing team of staff.

ProMo-Cymru has successfully supported a group of young people in creating a short one-minute animation for the Renew Wales project to raise awareness of climate change.

The Youth Media Agency is the National home for UK Youth Media: raising the profile of, and supporting, over 300 exciting media platforms. The agency also delivers campaign and media training, working with 16-25 year olds.

This is a ‘training the trainer’ event developed by ERYICA and funded by Youth in Action in order to develop, support and promote quality youth information across Europe.

Youth information workers and training managers from across Europe will be taking part in this event to network, gain new skills and learn how to deliver the YINTRO training in their country.

ProMo-Cymru has developed training packages to support use of CLIConline – the youth information website in Wales – and has already used ERYICA JIMMY (Youth Information Mediator) training with these packages.  Please view the packs here and for further information about training, please contact rachel@cliconline.co.uk

The theme of the study visit was “Youth Policy and Social Inclusion”. During the study visit participants were introduced to the Finnish Youth Act, Youth Policy and Children and Youth Policy Programme and how Youth Information, Counselling and Guidance Services form part of the national youth act and youth policy.

Marco Gil-Cervantes, Chief Executive of ProMo-Cymru and Project Manager of CLIConline, who took part in the 5-day trip, also did a presentation on ProMo-Cymru’s projects and services to participants from 10 other nations.

With the help of young people from The BYG and Aniko, CLIConline interviewed the stars of the night, including Huw Stephens, A3 Dance Troupe and Autumn, the winner of CLICstar 2012, who also performed on stage.

Interviews where also conducted with a handful of the winners, including Wicid.tv, who won the award for developing skills for young people (change for real name of what they won).

The conference was attended by youth workers with involvement in youth information work from across Wales, and was jointly organised by Youth Information Workers Cymru (YIWC) and CLIConline, the online information service for young people in Wales.

Speakers included Rose Davis (Chair, YIWC), Jo Banks (Department for Education and Skills, Welsh Government), and Marco Gil-Cervantes, Chief Executive of ProMo-Cymru.

Commissioned by British Red Cross in Ceredigion, the video juxtaposes the types of lives they dream of having with the lives they are leading now with.

Young carers from Ceredigion were involved during the three days of planning and filming.  They had the opportunity to gain the wider key skills of Working with Others, Improving Own Learning and Performance and Problem Solving, and completed an Agored Cymru accreditation in Video Stories Level 2, earning three credits.

The professional post-production of the video is now being carried out by ProMo-Cymru and it will soon be ready for viewing.

We are having the hall fully refitted with a brand new bar, stage, PA system and lights.

There will also be a brand new cafe area and a professional-standard recording studio with an internationally recognised producer.

We are looking at a grand re-opening event in early April and the next live music event is scheduled for 19 April when we proudly present the magnificent Amy Wadge and Pete Riley in support of their new album.

The Cultural Café will also feature acoustic acts on a regular basis to compliment your evening.

But it’s not all music though, we regularly have political and alternative speakers and on 4 May we will have a course in Shamanic Journeying. There are also a number of courses run through Coleg Gwent and UHOVI.

All suggestions for future events welcome and we look forward to welcoming all visitors old and new to this exciting regeneration of one of Ebbw Vale’s most iconic buildings.
