ProMo-Cymru is a registered charity and a non for profit organisation ensuring that any surplus funds are invested back into the organisation. Using co-operative principles, ProMo-Cymru has helped contribute to social development over the past 30 years.

ProMo was established in 1982 when it was originally called the Cardiff Co-operative and was focused on business development. As the Cardiff Co-operative started to expand and specialise in youth development, it was eventually rebranded as ProMo-Cymru. This example of change helped ProMo-Cymru develop the diverse knowledge and services it offers today.

One of ProMo-Cymru’s core strengths is based around involving the user in the development of various services. Many organisations in the same field have been unsuccessful with their projects as they have not considered how the user would engage with their service. This is a problem that ProMo-Cymru has successfully overcome.

This user led approach has led to the success of projects such as CLIC where youth led editor groups control the content and direction of their websites. By ensuring the Young People are consulted during the setup and running of a project, other Young People are more likely to use and get the most out of a project or service.

With this knowledge and experience, ProMo-Cymru has realised the gap that exists within organisations and offers consultation and project management to ensure that projects are setup and developed properly.

ProMo-Cymru has been recognised as a leading company in the non-profit sector and has forged partnerships with many organisations including: The Welsh Assembly, Nyas,Trosgynnal, Children In Care and Voices From Care to name but a few.
